About Us and the Inn

Kim and Pat Walsh -- are now veteran Owners / Innkeepers of the Stone Maiden Inn B&B/Spa for 3 years. Kim holds a BA in Psychology and is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) with 25 years of business experience and Pat is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) with 30 years of business experience. Kim is also the marketing director for the Stratford & Area Bed and Breakfast Association.

Kim and Pat met 13 years ago and were married in Jamaica in 2001. It has always been Kim’s dream to operate a B&B and The Stone Maiden Inn is that dream ……. Kim & Pat have 4 adult children: Gregory, Matthew, Tara and Shannon and two grandchildren Hunter and Ethan (Mary and Greg). Hunters quickly becoming Oma's little helper by eating the chocolates on the beds for the guests and Ethan will sure to follow in his foosteps now that he's mobile.

Gregory is the oldest and is currently studying towards a degree in Political Science as well as working with Goodrich Landing Gear and serving as President of the Perth District Green Party of Ontario. Mary Jane has 6 years of hotel and hospitality training through Staybridge Suites and is looking to pursue her education in Nursing shortly. Hunter (now almost 3) and Ethan (soon to be 1) have smiles that can melt your heart.

Matthew completed his BA and teachers college from Laurier in 2007 and is now in his fourth year of teaching ESL at a private school in China as well as taking a lead role in curriculm developoment. Matthew and Zhen were married in China January 19th, 2012.

Tara completed her BSC in 2010 from the University of Guelph and is now doing her Masters. Shannon has completed the Hairdressing program and has been offered an apprenticeship with a salon in Milton.

Kim, originally from Sault Ste. Marie and Pat originally from Welland fell in love with the Stratford area and the Stone Maiden Inn and decided to make Stratford home. We are thrilled to be here and part of the Stratford community - it's everything we had hoped it would be. We welcome anyone who wants to stop in to say hello. Our family and team hopes you will enjoy your visit to the Stone Maiden Inn as much as we will enjoy having you stay with us. "May all who enter as guests leave as friends".

Please note that we do have a cat named Callie who is spoiled and contained to our owners quarters. Callie can visit with guests upon request only.

Chef de Cuisine, Mark Brown. Mark is a graduate of the Stratford Chef School and has worked as Chef in a few local establishments.. Mark encourages our guests to talk with him about his menus, local ingredients chosen, pairings and is happy to answer any other questions you may have. We are thrilled to have Mark as part of our team and I'm sure our guests will give him 10 out of 10 stars once they've had the opportunity to savour Mark's culinary delights. Marks' creative dish of butternut squash ice cream served on black walnut shortbread won the "most creative" award in this years Savour Stratford competition.

Visit beautiful Stratford year round for various events throughout the city as well as our world renowned Shakespearean Festival. Our Inn is located close to the city centre, restaurants and theatres and is within easy walking distance to almost everything. Most guests park and walk.

History - The house was built in 1873 and until 1914 was inhabited by one of Stratford's earliest lawyers, when it became the Sanders Hotel. The Hotel Register, going back to 1932, is kept in the Parlour for your perusal. More information is available in our guest information booklets in each room.

The rather grand, very Victorian, front hall, is reached via a well preserved "Stratford Porch" and sets the tone for the Stone Maiden Inn. Intricately crafted original plaster moldings adorn the high ceilings of the Front Hall, Dining Room and Parlour. Finally, ascend the beautiful staircase to the guest quarters on the second and third floors.

Antique furnishings and appointments add to the late 19th century ambience. Our elegant Guest Parlour offers a delightful haven for reading, board games, cards, chatting with other guests or simply savouring a quiet moment during your visit. Two cozy outdoor patios are available for your enjoyment - a perfect spot for reading, conversation or for catching forty winks.

Our Inn is now licenced under the LCBO's "mini-bar" section. We have a variety of beer, wine, champagne and spirits for purchase and your enjoyment.

Join us any time between 8:00 and 9:30 am (your choice of time) for breakfast. If you need to depart early, please let us know at checkin so we can make the appropraite arrangements.
